Kuwait City Hotels - Information, Reservation in Kuwait

Kuwait, whose name is thought to be derived from the word “kut,” meaning “fortress by the sea” was a major, successful sea port area by the early 19th century, and it’s still used for oil exports, cargo exchange, and cruising ships. Today, Kuwait City, the capital of Kuwait, is a vibrant metropolitan area contrasting between sky high office buildings, hotels, vast streets, and tidy, well kept gardens and parks. It has a population of around 2.38 million.

It is important to be respectful to Islam and the Kuwaiti government; national pride is taken seriously. Although long dress robes are basically the traditional Kuwaiti clothing, people can dress as they wish to; Kuwait, alongside Dubai, are open to people dressed as they wish, provided their clothing style is relatively conservative.

Grand Mosque in Kuwait City One of the major attractions in Kuwait City is the Grand Mosque, which is actually the largest mosque in Kuwait. Although the National Museum was raided during the war with Iraq, part of it has been reopened to the public. After you exit the museum, you can visit Sadu House, which is made of coral and gypsum, and was built during Kuwait’s pre-oil era. It is a cultural museum with a vast display of Bedouin goods, especially traditional weavings, which you can buy. Bedouin women can be seen weaving in the courtyard.

In the proximity of Sadu House, there is Bayt Al Badr, a 19th century structure whose magnificent front doors open to Kuwaiti handicrafts and architecture. It gives a great taste of Kuwaiti cultural heritage.

Another really important site in the city is Kuwait Towers, three towers by the sea. The first two towers play minor touristic roles; the first is around 146m high and it is basically a water tower, the second is responsible for the electric aspect as it illuminates the other 2 towers. Standing 187m tall, the main tower houses a few restaurants (Le Café, Ofok Restaurant, Al Waha, Royal Café, Al Juone Cafeteria) you might find worth a visit. It also has a viewing sphere that makes a full round every half an hour. Kuwait City Hotels

A truly important site, which is also the fifth highest free-standing telecommunications tower in the world, marks the Kuwaiti liberation from Iraqi occupation; it is the Liberation Monument which stands 372m high. It was inaugurated on March 10, 1996.
