The Hawalli district (part of the Hawalli governorate), mainly a residential area of around 80 square km with a population of around 500,000, is around 8 km south east of Kuwait City. Actually, it is one of the capital city’s first-established suburbs. The Hawalli district capital is Hawalli City.
Since 2004, Hawalli has undergone quite a lot of renovation. Older structures have been torn down and replaced by newer complexes dedicated to shopping and residential purposes – actually, unlike most other Kuwaiti areas, this specific one is full of apartment buildings. |
